Who Is Trent Munro?
Trent started surfing before he could actually swim, on the inside point of his Dad's surfboard, wearing 'floaties'! From that very first day he was a natural and showed little fear and enormous drive and love for surfing.
Now he wants to share that love with you.
Trent's commitment to the sport at age 6 turned competetive when a local Boardrider's Club was formed and the whole family started competing here in Scott's Head.
After Trent finished his School Certificate he worked at his competetive game for 2 hard years. He convincingly won the 1997 Australian Junior Title, blitzing the field by winning FOUR Pro Junior events and went on to join the World Qualifying Series (WQS). Four years was all he needed on the WQS to qualify for the World Championship Tour (WCT) in 2000, surfing against the calibre of Kelly Slater, Andy Irons and mark "Occy" Occhilupo.
Trent's maiden year saw him win a WCT event in Brazil, crowning him the 2001 Rookie of the Year and the fastest rookie ever to win a WCT event.
Trent progressively worked his way into the top 20, and then in 2005 into the top 10 surfers in the world. Although finishing 6th, he was up at No 1 for the most part of the year.
Now after almost 20 years of surfing competetively, and 10 years on the professional tour itself, Trent wants to share his experiences, knowledge, drive and love of the surf with you.
Trent has gathered the most elite surf safety equipment available to give you feeling and joy of surfing in no time. With his Surfing Australia license, Ocean Safety & Surf Coach Award Level 1 and Level 2, Advanced Resucitation Certificate, Senior First Aid and many, many hours of experience over the course of 20 years he is now a current holder of a Professional Ocean Lifeguard Certificate (POL) trained through APOLA Inc. You can rest assured that you will be in safe hands at all times.
